Heart Pill Remix of JUATB’s “Ringtone”

I spent much of 2010 working w/ Jen Urban & The Box on new tracks that eventually were recorded at James Murphy’s Plantain Studios (shout out to Mr. Murphy & my boy Abe who manages Plantain!)

JUATB released the first song that i produced back in December – it’s called 21, and it’s been nominated for 2 OUTMUSIC Awards (for those not in the know, these are unofficially known as the Gay Grammys, so i’m pretty stoked cuz this is the closest i’ve ever gotten to a Grammy nomination :) )

The second single, Ringtone, was licensed by Keds (as was the next song to drop, called Aeon, which is coming at ya this summer). Check out the webisodes on Other Music & Peggy Nolan to hear the songs..

Anyway, i remixed Ringtone & the remix is going on sale tmrw on Bandcamp & iTunes… Check it out. Hope you enjoy!

Pad Phunk

I guess cause I’ve gotten into serious blogging lately I’m releasing some things that maybe aren’t so new to me as NEW to you. But on the other had these things are relatively new to the world right? Which brings me to the title of this one. It’s like that asian fusion restaurant that keeps on opening with different names in the same location with slightly different menu offereings.  Maybe now it’ll be plantains AND fried rice! This track is a lot like that, instead of a traditional kick drum I’ve used a sample from a Linn drum tom, instead of lead synth I’m using a jaw harp. So get ready for a good amount of breaks with about a 2 minute interlude of house.

a bore today

Not that I’m really ever that bored, but this is a bit of a dub step wondering with a break down of classic rocky/country/glitch streel string guitar solo that goes on for about 72 measures.   Deep dubby bassline that doesnt always make sense, and snippets of lyrics that may or may not keep you guessing. I mention Myrtle ave, I also site a popular wine club in the area, as well as some itch that I can’t reach.
